Stove Top Meals?

My oven is broken and won't be fixed for a while yet.

I'm going a bit mad with a never ending round of pasta /chili/ stir fry etc.

I'd love some new ideas to try - any ideas?

Steamed suet (sweet or savoury)
Steamed sponge pudding
Chunky soup and dumplings
Chicken steamed Chinese style with noodles
Fish can be wrapped in greaseproof paper or tin foil and steamed or even gently boiled
Chackchouka
potato and courgette fritters
Spanish omelette
Mexican is easy to make
risotto isn't difficult
My DH does a lovely pilau in a frying pan on the hob
Stuffed savoury pancakes (mushrooms, minced lamb, cheese n leeks) in tomato sauce.

Fried halloumi cheese with wilted spinach
Meatballs, burgers, onion bhajis in a bun/ with rice

You could invest in a slow cooker - about £12-ish from Tesco, then you could braise meat and you won't have the condensation problems.

or a three tier steamer

or a mini oven £29

I sympathise about the oven. What a bummer! I have a £3 part gone on my main gas burner on the hob but it's like £60 to get a CORGI engineer to fit it! Angry The oven only cost me £80 on eBay.

Soup
Fajitas
Stews
Stewed sausages
Mince
Mixed grill

I hardly use my oven in comparison to my hob and slow cooker

Some of my favourite everyday recipes are here:

This is a tasty rice with chicken/prawns/chorizo/whatever you want to throw in tyne-teas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/rice-with-chorizo-and-prawns-sometimes.html

Beef in Beer can be left to simmer on the cooker without sticking in the oven tyne-teas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/beef-in-beer.html

Soups of course tyne-teas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/soups.html

This smoked fish recipe would also go with rice tyne-teas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/smoked-fish-and-prawns-in-lemony-white.html

Meatball curry tyne-teas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/kofta-curry.html

Hope you get you oven sorted soon

Curry
Casserole
Fry up!

I use my hob much more than my oven. Do you have a separate grill? In which case chops etc.

Thank you everyone I am about to peruse and make my shopping list Smile

I dont have a separate grill or microwave but it's just me + 1 DC so we''ll manage.

Luckily going to friends & family over Christmas so dont need to pan fry a turkey Grin
