New thread, thought I'd better start it early so we can all get ahead. I can't decide on my other book yet, might pick and chose from the others. I have the WI Complete Christmas, Delia's Christmas and Hairy a Bikers 12 Days of Christmas, just in case anyone can recommend some good recipes to try.

Pantah- don't tease meGrin , my collection is very meagre compared to most, I have under 100 cookbooksShock I can't imagine ever getting to a point where I have to trim down the amount I have.

I'm happy with two greedy and eat- but may also venture into the Katie bishop slow cook book which came with my crockpot.

We have done Italian- in August or sept we did river cafe books. But don't let that change our minds, as I'm the only one who remembersGrin .

I haven't and I don't have the book (yet) but I intend to make the freekah and fig salad from the blog on Monday. Since doing the chicken and freekah in Jerusalem, I have become addicted to it, though I have to bulk buy as it's a three hour round trip to my nearest middle eastern store.

Hello, I've been following the cookery book club since it started, but I've not been able to join in yet. I'm hoping to do so in January though!
Very much up for the idea of a blog though, as I don't have many cookbooks and I'm overseas so no library access. Happy to do the jewelled kitchen blog. Smile

Oops of course we did, and I still have my aunt's copy of RC green Blush

Plan sounds good. I've been thinking of getting a slow cooker for my return to work, should I take the plunge and join you? if so what's a good book?

Oh and welcome miffy

I love my slow cooker glorious, for nothing else it's worth the money for mulled wine! I like sara Lewis slow.cooker, but that is largely due to it having pictures of everything (i like pictures- like a child) and the pheasant casserole is delicious.

This month I'm going to cook from Katie bishops slow cooker book as it came free with my crockpot and I haven't used it yet.

I agree with other posters that the wealth of slow cooker recipes are online, and MN holds loads of great slow cooker stuff, the books are hit and miss, plus most normal recipes can be adapted.

Mmm mulled wine Smile I'll take a look at some later then. DH is mithering about space but he's not the one who'll have to put the baby to bed as well as feeding us after work.

Morning all, a little late on the thread to be posting about Christmas but we've been away so couldn't post!
Things I made from nigella were the festive ham although I do this every year and it truly is delicious! Also made the mince meat, for star topped mince pies and tried the bread sauce recipe this year too and it was ok not a lover of bread sauce so not the best judge everyone else seemed to enjoy it though. Also made the girdle buster pie again was ok but I've had better things and then made around 3 batches of the cranberry and oat cookies which I love.
I followed Delia's instructions for turkey this year as I had a 20lb bird and it turned out well!
Right off to catch up on the thread and see what we are cooking in January.
I got Nigel slater Eat for Christmas. Did anyone get any other cook books?

ELR · 30/12/2013 12:04

Okay, so I'm planning my month and will be doing a few cookbook club recipes- the lentil Bolognese from eat and the artichoke and chicken dumpling soup from greedy Italians will be made this week. Am afraid to start a January thread as I only MN on phone and can't link, so I thought I would update here.

Pantah630 · 02/01/2014 19:08
