Hi. Is it ok to re-heat dishes like shepherds pie if they are not fully cooled down. The problem that I have is I would like to make dinner before I leave on the school run. I usually cook it and then switch the oven off while I am out and it is just about warm enough to eat on our return so i don't have to worry about re-heating. I wondered if I made it an hour earlier or so would it be ok to heat up if still warm but not fully cooled down. I hope that makes sense !! I am just a bit worried about the do's and don't's of re-heating warm food. I don't want to poison anyone !!! Thank you

The thing you want to avoid is food being 'tepid' for too long. That's when bugs get a foothold. Unlikely to be any risk if a freshly-cooked pie has been sitting only for an hour or two but never hurts to reheat to piping hot before serving,

It will be absolutely fine.

I do that all the time, I like to cook the meal before the children get home and then I just heat it up again for eating.
