I plan to make some mince pies on Friday. I usually buy my mincemeat. What can I add to shop bought mincemeat to make it extra special?

A few shots of Drambuie

Dried cranberries and a grated apple.
I did exactly this with a jar of shop bought and it tastes great!

Brandy.

Ooh like the idea of alcohol and grated apple. Will give it a go thank you!

Grated apple makes mincemeat taste delicious.

I asked this a while ago, cherries and brandy was the majority answer.

A layer a marzipan is niace, and so is a dollop of cream cheese in the middle.

I see fresh cranberries in the shops now, so how about adding a handful of them? You could also add dried sour cherries and lemon or orange rind.

DMIL's mince meat recipe had dried apricots rather than apple. You could try a few ready to eat ones stirred in.

Extra booze, apple, cherries, cranberries all work.
