Someone had a half litre of what I can only assume was anti freeze.
The place was awash in Muller lite cartons and meat substitutes.

There was even a......

Yeah - I think it's the whole snobby food language - if we called it "sauce tomate piquante" or something that would sound better!! I'd love to say that when I say mayonnaise I mean lovingly hand made but I tried that once and I tell you that Nigella lied to me - one gooey mess in the kitchen-aid later and a jar of Hellmans on the table.

Skribble · 13/07/2006 23:49

Ok so can I be smug if my daughter likes "pink sauce", other wise know as Thousand Island, especially the Pizza Hut one, oh dear did I just say that imagine letting my DD eat a dough base topped with a tomatoe based sauce and lashings of cheese, best get her off to A&E now and book myself on to honey were killing the kids.

housemum · 14/07/2006 00:00

DD did give me a look that could curdle milk today - she had some sweet potato wedges at tea time - she gave me that look, and said, "potatoes are not s'posed to be orange they should be lellow" (her pronunciation). Perhaps she should tell someone at the fizzy drinks companies that "raspbries are not s'posed to be blue"??!!

housemum · 14/07/2006 00:03

And on a totally different track, where the heck do ideas of gender-specific colours come from? We had a (rare) baking day yesterday, and in the afternoon were chatting to the neighbours. I said that dd should give their ds one of her pretty cakes, and went to get one. DD told me that we couldn't give him the one I'd picked as it had a pink flower on and he was a boy so he had to have a blue one - where did that come from??

themoon66 · 14/07/2006 09:32

Can I jump on the smug mum bandwagon?? My DD and DS have got to the ripe old ages of 19 and 14 without ever having eaten a single McDonalds meal in their lives.

My ds has gone on a trip today with two WHITE bread sandwiches a banana and a TWIX

Greensleeves · 14/07/2006 10:44

Why are people now actively bragging about feeding their kids rubbish? Is it somehow better than bragging about feeding them ponce food?

This thread is surreal!

No. I never joke.

I thought moondog et al were joking too, but people seemed to be taking offence at it.

Marina · 14/07/2006 11:08

Shoppingsecret, where's the problem as long as both heads are smart and funny you've just doubled your parenting fun.
I am just NOT going to go to where feeding my son the odd peperami on school trips might end up...

Mmm, yum. Have to go and get ds from school now. Most beloved boy in class is leaving and there was all sorts of furtive blubbing going on this morning

Skribble · 15/07/2006 01:13

I think once they have grown two heads you best switvh to your own personaly grown organic foods as it is the only way to nurture and help little mind to grow, just one McDonalds and they could lose hundreds of braincells. Honest a boffin told me! .

Greensleeves · 15/07/2006 01:27

Actually...I am pretty good at taking a joke, but I think Fio and Shoppingwhats'erface were rather rude to me any particular reason why?

ScummyMummy · 15/07/2006 01:48

Perhaps you're being slightly oversensitive, GS? I think that fio and shoppingsecret were merely trying to alert you to the fact that shoppingsecret was not in fact "actively bragging about feeding her kid rubbish". Your poat of 10.44 seemed to indicate that you were very worried about this possibility and I think it is therefore understandable that they were moved to reassure you that it had not come to pass in the strongest possible terms.

It's al gone pear shaped (now there's a surprise)

Who is banging on about people knowing no better? Capuccino??

Christ,it doesn't take much sense to work out that a blue drink aint doing you any good.
If you can't work that one out,you need your arse kicking frankly.
