How long between defrosting and cooking meat?

I took some chicken out of the freezer last night (Saturday) and left it tp defrost overnight on bottom shelf of fridge in covered plastic container. Planned to pop it in slow cooker this morning before going out for the afternoon. But it wasn't thawed this morning so left it in fridge and it's now defrosted. I am not wanting to start cooking it now and then have to leave slow cooker on overnight. If it stays in fridge on bottom shelf nice and cold etc will it be ok to pop into slow cooker first thing tomorrow? Or am I risking getting ill? Thx!

I honestly think it will be fine. You've kept it refrigerated the whole time.
