Party food for one year olds

I've just agreed to do the food for a friend's little one's first birthday party. Hoping you lovely people can inspire me with some fabulous ideas! I'd like to prepare food that will appeal to the babies and the adults wherever possible.

The food for my twins first party consisted tod usual buffet stuff. Various sandwiches on granary and white bread, pizza, goujons, spicy chicken wings, various salads, grissini, mini cupcakes. But most of my guests were older children and adults. I still have no idea what they are because I was too busy organising, waterballoon fights and face painting. It all got eaten though.

I would do eggy/cheese/jam sandwiches, cucumber sticks with hummous, little sausages, halved grapes/strawberries, cheese cubes, puffed crisps, marshmallows and jelly and custard ;)

Agree with the other posts with a focus on relatively healthy stuff to try and avoid the sugar infused chaos that comes with too much cake! breadsticks, cucumber and carrot sticks with dips, mini pizza (homemade with some pitta bread?), cubes of cheese, these savoury muffins always go down well with kids and adults alike, fresh and dried fruit, healthier cake. Good luck- sounds like fun.

Yeah I agree too, try to avoid the usual 'party' food rubbish that seems to get trawled out.
We did finger food - veg sticks, breadsticks, humous, cheese cubes, little pizzas, courgette and cheese muffins, chicken goujons etc., and some grapes, strawberries and other fruit. I also made a great low/no sugar cake from the baby led weaning cookbook. It was gorgeous!
Ooh and I made some ham and cream cheese pinwheel sandwiches, which looked cute and went down well.
Do you use Pinterest? There are some genius ideas to steal inspire you on there.
