Christmas cake BOOZE question :)

I am a good cake maker but know little about booze.... My Christmas cake fruits are soaking in a bottle of brandy currently :) Would it taste OK if I fed the cake once done with the sherry I have had in my kitchen since last year and will probably never get through otherwise, or would this mix of brandy and sherry taste foul/odd??

Brandy and Sherry are both made with grapes, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Or try rum (not Bacardi though).
