I have a recipe for Chocolate surprise (a lovley concoction of choc, coconut cherries etc) whcih uses dessicated coconut

How can I convert that in to fresh coconut (from the school fete)

not sure that you can TBH, dessicated is dry and grated fresh coconut would be wet. I think!

It's with flour egg and sugar

Damn

WHat can I do with tonnes of coconut

We had one from our fete last week. We smashed it, kids tasted the milk, hated it like we said they would !!, I ate some of the coconut then I threw the rest away. Don't know of a recipe for fresh coconut but there's bound to be one in some clever MNer's recipe book somewhere!

Is it a brown one? If so just eat it in its natural state! I think the 'meat' can be frozen

(do you have a luvverly bunch or just the one?)

I have 3 - we buy coconuts quite often and eat them

Or caramelise them (DH loves that)

I just wanted to be a bit more adverturous

I think you need moondog!

MrsBadger · 09/07/2006 19:44

if we have a fresh one we sometimes grate it into curry

most often we just gnaw great lumps of it...

moondog · 09/07/2006 19:50

Katy,I think dessicated may be treated with sugar too (??)
I would use the fresh but more of it as the dessicated more concentrated.

Katymac · 09/07/2006 19:54

Double do you think or just half as much again?

It's so hard to decide

OP posts:
moondog · 09/07/2006 19:55

Double.
Be a devil.

Katymac · 09/07/2006 22:13

Well it looks fab

But I have to wait for the chocolate to set until I can eat it

How did it taste KM??

Katymac · 12/07/2006 16:15

too sweet - so I made another and reduced the sugar and it's not sweet enough.

so I'll have to make another

Isn't it a shame I needed to make 3 batches to get it just right?

OP posts:
moondog · 12/07/2006 21:55

lol
But the coconut worked ok?

Katymac · 12/07/2006 22:19

The coconut was fine - but you need twice the coconut and about 3/4 of the sugar
