Having the family round on Saturday afternoon for DS's birthday. 6 adults and 4 kids. Not sure whether to do nibbles or a big pot of something, any ideas? Thanks.

As it's November, I'd go for the big pot of something. Or two big pots so there's a choice e.g. a Chilli Con Carne and a Chicken Casserole. Cut everything bite-size so it can be easily eaten on the hoof. Serve with lots of crusty bread, rice, jacket spuds, relishes. Gluhwein for the grow-ups, hot chocolate for the kids. Are you having fireworks?

No fireworks. I'm hoping they'll all be gone by the time it gets dark! suggestions sound lovely.

Above sounds good. Chilli, lasagne, jacket spuds etc all go down well usually.
Or my SiL just did a do last week, and she did loads of sausages, finger rolls, jacket spuds cut in half with melted cheese, and some pizzas. Went down very well but very simple.
