quick! if a recipe asks for wine vinegar, does it matter which?

its an old tomato chutney recipe. it says wine vinegar. I have red wine vinegar. will it be ok with that?

Ooh and last time I sterilised the jars in the oven, but then I read that dishwashers sterilise them just as well - is that true?

Hmmm, I don't think they were hot hot. But the dishwasher had not been opened at all and I had very clean hands. Dammit forgot about hot into hot. Do I have to throw my chutney away?!

Sorry for all the novice chutney questions!
