Frozen homemade chicken curry question!

I have a chicken curry I cooked and froze a few weeks ago that I'd like to eat tonight but I forgot to take it out of the freezer It's in one of those foil takeaway type cartons with the cardboard lid. Do I try and defrost it in the next 3 hours or does anyone know if I can cook it from frozen?

Transfer it into a microwaveable container (loosen by standing in hot water for a few mins) and then defrost in the microwave just before reheating. Or could probably defrost in a pan over a low heat.

I never defrost that sort of thing slowly before cooking it.
