I was thinking of getting Nigella's, but are there any other great ones out there? I am pretty competent in the kitchen so I'm looking for interesting recipes rather than how to roast a potato.

Nigella's is my absolute favourite, as much for how she writes about Christmas itself, and the lush photos as the recipes.

Also like Delia's Christmas (although she is very headmistress and tells you how to slice a cherry tomato into 4 slices, whereas Nigella just lobs the tomato in the general direction of her gob)

I have just bought Mary Berry's Christmas book (on offer at Tesco) looks good!

A vote for Nigella.

Used it last year for hamper treats and they were perfect - also love how she describes the food and where the recipes have come from

Def nigella's it's great. We are doing it as our December book on the December recipe cookbook thread. Can't link as not set up yet but do join us when it starts.
Here is the October thread

The last 3 years I've used the hairy bikers Xmas one.

It has all the traditional stuff in as well as ideas for Xmas eve, Boxing Day and other treats. The spiced beef brisket and ginger lebkuchen are amazing.

Oooh, ELR, I will join in on that. Love Nigella's writing. (and she made me spend a fortune on all the lovely table decorations and accessories!)

schmalex · 30/10/2013 17:32

Nigella it is! Thank you Thanks

Yes get the lovely Nigella and search for some lovely chilli red linen for the table

Hairy Bikers is good too. We have the stuffed chicken thighs every year on Jan 6th. I like how it's arranged by dates with menu ideas for each occasion.
