sauce for gnocchi ideas please!

We have a weekly meal of gnocchi, usually in my home made sauce of bacon, veg, red wine, bit of stock and passata, which i batch cook and freeze in individual portions so its a quick and easy meal (and v cheap!)and salad.

The hubby is getting bored of this meal but i don't really want to remove it from my menu as its cheap and quick and always available as its store cupboard and freezer things thrown together.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for other sauces for gnocchi, preferably ones that can either be made in batches and frozen, or made v quickly from store cupboard type ingredients?

This is really yum

Or sometimes I do a normal cheese sauce with spinach in and parmesan on top. this freezes fine to microwave up (not tried freezing the top one yet as I ate it all Blush

Having Gnocchi bolognaise bake for dinner as it goes, standard bolognaise sauce (i use gordan ramsey's, with worcestershire sauce, red wine etc), gnocchi, grated cheese on top.

do you like mushrooms? finely sliced and cooked with onion or garlic in evoo, splash of white wine, creme fraiche, bit of wholegrain mustard and a bay leaf or some parsley or even tarragon (yolo!) and let it cook for a bit then add the drained, cooked gnocchi and stir it all together

is really nice with rocket and pine nuts

that sounds gorgeous, Mitchy.

I love gnocchi with green pesto and fried grated courgette, then at the last minute stir through a few handfuls of spinach and some cubes of feta. Quick and easy although probably not the healthiest! Even better with some toasted pine nuts scattered on top...

i love it with homemade pesto

The sauce from Jamie Olivers 'Jools' Pregnant Pasta' goes really well. It's basically sausage meat with onion garlic, chilli and fennel, with tomatoes and balasamic. It's proper lush.

Mitchy i think ill try that, i LOVE mushrooms. Lula i love that sauce, might be a winner too.

hope you like it, it's creamy (which I think gnocchi tend to prefer) but not high in fat (which I try to prefer)
