Lovely but simple biscuits - gift for a friend

My friend has just had her second baby girl and instead of buying a baby present which she'll probably get loads of (plus she's already got masses of girl clothes from first daughter) I thought I'd make some lovely biscuits for her and ice them with cute pictures etc and put in a lovely box as a gift instead. Does anyone know of a nice but simple biscuit recipe?

my friend made Nigella Lawson's rainy day biscuits the other day which were lovely and v suitable for icing. Don't have recipe to hand but could probably find it online.

Nigella has a recipe for absolutely gorgeous cranberry, white chocolate and pecan cookies in her Feast book - I skip the pecans and believe me, you could happily munch your way through the entire tin in an afternoon
