Birthday Cakes

Please help!! I have 2 birthday cakes this month, one for my 2yo ds and one for my 21yo sister. Trouble is I can't think of what sort of cake to do. 2yo is having a teddy bears picnic so would really like something to do with teddy bears and the 21yo a bbq. I wanted to do the 21yo a '21' cake and she would like fondant icing (scared about doing this as I have never used it before-any tips?). Does anyone have any good recipes (preferably with pictures-sorry, I need to be able to see what I am doing) or any good websites I could go on, or any recipe books I can get hold of in a hurry?!

where are you based? I decorate cakes and so have lots of books but would need to get them to you.

I live in Ipswich. To add to the horrible equation the first one is needed for the 9th July!!!!

These two 50 Easy Party Cakes (Hardcover) (Debbie Brown)

Kids' Party Cakes: Muffins, Pastries, Cakes, Biscuits (Pamela Calrk)

I recognise, but I would say that ime Debbie Brown is easy to follow and good, so you may well find one in Smiths if you don't want to order.

The other thing to do though is to look at Squires Kitchen for inspiration, or try your local sugarcraft store who can probably hire you a decent teddy tine for a few quid!.
