Making a Pavlova look special

A friend has asked me to make one for her dinner party. My meringues always taste fine but don't look elegant. Any tips?
I wondered about piping the sides?
Should I put a lid in?
I thought a topping of strawberry & passion fruit but am open to suggestion.

Also, I just use egg whites and caster sugar.
Lots of recipes use corn flour, vanilla extract and vinegar. Is this necessary?

Gold leaf.

You need gold leaf.

Swankypants Pavlova.

Thanks all. No gold leaf but I have edible silver glitter.
Thought I'd just put it on the meringue, not the cream & fruit?
