So requirements are:

It needs to be big enough for 8 people!

I think it needs to be stainless steel, ceramic won't work on stove top and cast iron is too heavy.
Suitable for induction
Budget not really a constraint, it's a lifetime purchase...so quality is important.

So far this Aga buffet pan comes closest - but would love to see other ideas, hear your comments before I make the final decision.

Look for a goose pot, Le Creuset do a good one, the thing is for the size you need something like cast iron because the heat needs to distribute properly.
