"Animals" party food

We're having a family party for DSs first birthday next month. I let my stepsons pick a theme and DSS1 thinks animals would be great. DH wants a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, and I like the idea of making a very hungry caterpillar cake with some butterfly cakes but need further inspiration.

If I made meringue swans what could I display them on? (I'd want to create a lake) are hot dogs a bit obscure?

Cadburys animal biscuits
Sarnies cut out with animal shaped cutters
Those fish shaped cheesy bites
Put the swans on a plate lined with foil, or blue fabric/paper covered in cling film.
Cupcakes with animal picture decoration.

You'll probably find lots of inspiration on Pinterest...I've seen watermelons cut out & filled with melon balls/grapes & then made to look like a pig.

I like the hot dogs idea. For the meringue swans, could you do them as a version of the French 'floating islands' so they sit on a 'lake' of creme anglaise in a punch bowl?

I can't find it now, but some-one on here linked to a way to make some, very realistic, jelly worms too.

You could have fun-sized lion bars and penguin biscuits.

You could buy jelly worm sweets and display them on jelly.

Tiger bread?

Monkey nuts?

Tiger beer? Kingfisher?

Pepperami? (it's a bit of an animal)

Some great ideas, thank you. In some ways I think jungle or under the sea would've focused me a bit - it just felt a bit broad IYSWIM.

You could do mini pizzas cut into animal shapes if you have big cutters.
