my ds doesnt like the crusts off bread.
i refuse to cut them off for him but wont nag him if he leaves them...just say soemthing like " oh well, you wont be big and string if you dont eat them" sort of thing.

anyway, i noticed when we were shopping that they had this invisiblae crust stuff in best of both. which is what i normally buy as i prefer brown bread but Ds doesn't so its a happy compromise.

anyway....bought it.....YUK!
its horrible. its much smaller, very soggy and if toasted it turns into capret tile! it really is horrid. would mach rather eat lots of bleached white bread than suffer that again.

does anyone actually like it?

I do
I've only tried it once, but thought it was nice. Seemed normal though with a very light scrust'- not like what you describe.
I presume the 'crustless' bread is simply microwaved rather than oven-baked, but apart from the outside it shouldn't be any different.

i'm with you fattiemumma its vile

I like the crusts of proper bread but I've never understood what the big deal about having to eat them is. Are they more nutricious? I thought they were just more cooked. Don't most people leave them because most sandwiches are dry and barren around the edge?

Bogging.

I tried this with dd when she was refusing crusts - she still left the edges!

I also found that it was unpleasant - soggy, with a nasty taste and texture. We went back to proper bread and dd still leaves the crust ... but at least enjoys what she does eat.

imagine not eating the crusts of french bread ..there would be nothing left

fattiemumma · 30/06/2006 14:25

i dont think there is any extra nutritional value to the crust...just teaches them not to waste it i guess.

i dont worry to much about it as i say, i justthought this new stuff would get him into thehabbit of eating the edges....it didn't as he still leaves them!

i think you may be right about it being microwaved. it is very aneamic looking.

didn't think of the waste aspect. Good for the birds though?

crusts are GOOD.

OK ds2 doesn't like them but he canleave them, the rest of us prefer crusts. My Dad has been often known to cut all the crusts off a loaf and eat just those, leaving us with pulpy innards. Yuk.
