DH and I have decided that we would like to do a cookery class together.. not necessarily a course leading to a qualification.. but maybe.. am open to suggestions.
He is a good cook and cooks all our meals at home.. and I am completely crap and incompetent and have always quite liked it that way because it meant that nobody had any expectations of me.. .. but in order to redress a few of our relationship issues, I want to learn to cook so that DH can sometimes have a night off. We have tried this before.. I can read after all and am not beyond following a recipe. But the children actually cry when I cook (I'm not actually exaggerating) and the end result of my efforts rarely produces anything any of us actually enjoy. It might keep us alive.. but there would never be any pleasure in eating if I were to cook all the time.
So I am going to confront the dragon.. I actually want to learn HOW to cook. I'm 34. I suppose it's time. DH could get run over by a bus tomorrow and my children would have to live on chicken nuggets and waffles from Icelands and I would never be able to show my face on Mumsnet again because I would fear that you would all just know!! 9And there's is nothing more notorious on Mumsnet than a "Mother" who feeds her children Icelands Chicken Nuggets!! )
Does anyone know of any courses? We don't have a lot (any?! ) money to spend on this idea.. but DH thinks he would benefit too because he is always looking for new ideas.. and I would benefit in that I absolutely could not do it without him to hold my hand because the idea totally terrifies me.. ..!! It would also give us some quality time together. Quite how the time would be found is another matter but still...
I have Googled and can't find anything that looks remorely appropriate.. does anyone have any ideas?
