I have the River Cottage veg every day book and am loving it. Great veggie recipes for a family of inveterate meat eaters.

Any other suggestions of books with cheapish, not too complex, satisfying dishes in?

I like the Good Housekeeping one I got several years ago.

I came on to say Good Housekeeping too! The step by step one. Good recipes and nice gallery index at the beginning - wish all cookbooks had that!

I love Ottolenghi's Plenty. But I don't like river cottage veg so maybe we don't have similar tastes.

I like The Vegetarian Pantry, Vegetarian Dishes from The Middle East and Rose Elliot's New Compete Vegetarian.

I hate Veg Everyday. HATE it!

I like Madhur Jaffrey's World Vegetarian and one of the Simon Rimmer ones but have forgotten what it's called. Also Leslie Walters Broader Than Beans for simple but good ideas.

Dennis Cotter's Café Paradiso and Paradiso Seasons are both fab - though not particularly simple.
