Slow-cooker recipes or tips!

Hello,

I've just been given a slow-cooker and am not sure what to do with it.

I've got three children and I work and so am thrilled at the idea of it but have no idea where to start.

If anyone has any good recipes/tips/cookbooks or websites they can pass on I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

they were raving about these on the food programme (radio 4) today, if you look at their ws they have some recipes, they seem all very meaty so no use to me (veggie) but on the programme they were v positive

I was coming along to ask the same question! The recipe section on MN has loads. Here's a link in case you're on the app. Smile

Thanks both! Am quite excited about trying it - haven't had a brand new gadget for years!

I like the Cara Hobday recipe book, but there are plenty online.

Just make all your normal recipes but do it in the SC instead. Just remember to add very little liquid as it will makes its own.

I make-

Whole gammon
Whole chicken
Bolognaise
Chilli
Soup
Stew
Rice pudding
Sausage casserole
Beef and onions

I also make my own chicken stock in it which is gorgeous!

I've just put some overnight chicken stock on in the slow cooker... Bone, gristle and skin, etc from a roast chicken carcass, a quartered onion (skin on) and well covered with water. Cook on low overnight. Lush. I even do this with the carcass of bought rotisserie chickens, wastenot, want not and all that! Smile
