Epic pork- have I done it wrong?

I read somewhere that you can do an epic/ shredded pork style dish using apple juice and BBQ sauce as a marinade. I have put the pork in the slow cooker with the apple juice on low and added the BBQ sauce. I then read the recipe saying the BBQ sauce should have gone in later- will it be a disaster?

it may end up a bit sweeter than you intended, depending on the sauce used. Have you kept any sauce back?

No but I have some extra in the fridge. I used a smokey BBQ sauce so hopefully that will help! What could I add to counter sweetness if it is too sweet?

It may be ok.
I've done it myself but I know my DH likes a fairly sweet BBQ flavour anyway.

it will probably be very watery

normally you cook in apple juice, then when done drain and shred and then add bbq sauce

I never bother with the bbq sauce - think it overwhelms it, just eat it with apple sauce on the side instead

Thanks all- if its a bit sweet half way through ill add a few drops of white wine vinegar :)
