I've baked an 8 egg chocolate sponge and it tastes ok, but looking for a good dense cake that will take the shape perfectly. Any advice or recipes I could try? All for school bake sale and trying to be a perfect Nigella - that should indeed teach me a lesson!

Try a pound cake, quite solid, but also tasty. I use it when I'm doing awake shapes.

I use a pound cake mix for everything!
