pear glut..and apples too

every surface in the kitchen is covered in pears from the tree in the garden plus a big bag of cooking apples.

any ideas for delicious/easy stuff before they go off?

I have made a load of Apple compote with vanilla and portioned into bags for freezer. Lots of trays of crumble. Pears go into jars and poached, really easy and taste fab.

rumtopf with the pears? Means you don't need freezer space to keep them.

pass round your friends, and put a notice on FB - pears for swap for other gluts of garden produce?

can you wrap pears individually in newspaper, stick in a box in the garage or shed? I have apples like this from my tree, and I remember my grandad kept apples all winter like this
