Tasteless cupcakes. Can I rescue them?

We went blackberrying today and I decided to make blackberry cupcakes using berry puree. I thought they would be a beautiful purple colour full of fruity flavour. Instead they are dark grey and taste of very little.
Do you think they could be rescued by scooping out the middle, filling with blackberry jam (bought) and topping with lots of blackberry buttercream that I will make with the leftover berries?
Any other ideas?
I want to take them to work, but I don't want to embarrass myself as my cakes are usually pretty tasty (and not grey).

Your rescue sounds lovely!!

Are the berries themselves tasty or a bit sour beacuse if so your icing will be too

Thanks MollyBerry. I think they are quite sweet. They are a bit squishy and overripe so I didn't think a recipe where they were supposed to stay whole would work, hence the puree.
I'll give it a go and will resort to using the jam in the buttercream if the berries don't work.

Sounds good to me! Or you could prick a few holes in the top and maybe drizzle with some kind of blackberry syrup or liqueur (if there is such a thing?) then the buttercream on top which will hide the colour!

But taste is the most important factor!

Definitely fill! Maybe make your own jam with the blackberries!

fill and top with a swoosh of vanilla buttercream and like AlpacaPicnic say drizzel some blackberry liqueur.
