Has anyone ever made braising steak into a pie?

Dp fancies a braising steak pie....I assume cook for hours as usual & then plonk in pastry or top with mash?

Any tips would be good, tyvm Smile

we usually cook the steak in the slow cooker for a couple of hours, then put in an over proof dish, cover with pastry and cook until pastry is golden (around 25 mins in a 180 deg fan oven)

My cooker's a bit knackered & not a fan oven so will extend cooking time a bit. Smile

Yes, I often do this - floured, diced steak, in a casserole dish with onions and stock (you can use Guinness which is nice) and sometimes mushrooms, cook for ages - I like to do 2 hrs +

mushrooms...gooooooood idea, never thought to put mushrooms in braising steak! Will create a masterpiece in the week
