What makes up a portion of fruit and veg a day?

We all know that we should be eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. Been thinking about this and I honestly couldn't think of what an actual 'portion' size might be. So today at the local city farm I picked up a leaflet with examples of portion sizes. Thought I'd share them here in case anyone else is as bad as me:

Fruit and veg can be frsh, frozen, chilled, canned, 100% fruit juice, dried - they all count.

Portion size is equivalent to 80grams or 3 ounces.

Fruit and veg in convenience food including ready meals, ppasta sauces, soups and puddings can count to - but watch salt and sugar and fat.

Actual examples (in no order) then:

12 chunks of canned pineapple
7 cherry tomatoes
1 medium pear
1 medium apple
1 cereal bowl of mixed salad
2 halves of canned peaches
2 satsumas
1 tablespoon of raisins
1 handful of vegetable sticks
1 handful of grapes
1 medium banana
3 heaped tablespoons of peas
2 medium plums
2 broccoli florets
half a large courgette
1 medium glass of orange juice
7 strawberries
3 whole dried apricots
3 heaped tablespoons of sweetcorn
3 heaped tablespoons of carrots
3 heaped tablespoons of kidney beans
16 okra

Also:

Juice can only count for one portion a day
Potatoes don't count as they are a starchy food and come elsewhere in a balanced diet.

DD will not eat fruit, so we are limited to juice, raisins, baked beans, broccoli, veg hidden in dinner, cucumber and peppers. Therefore I try to get one glass of juice a day, on handful of raisins, baked beans at least every couple of days and broccoli and hidden veg at night. There is about 4 portions there, WOW better than I thought.

I am smug however I have
Apple and bannana for breakfast
salad (massive) for lunch (including at least 7 cherry toms!)
Pasta with veggie sauce (another 2) for dinner
Plus friut as snacks

I reckon I consume about 8 portions a day

what if you made your own juice like apple and carot would that be one or two portions because its two diferent fruit or veg because im still trying to managed the two portions normaly never mind more than that

Officially, no matter how many different types of juice you have, they only count one per day. BUT, I reckon if you do homemade juice it probably isn't at all like the high-filtered stuff you buy in the shops, it probably has lots of the cloudy stuff in it, still. must be a lot more nutritious. Maybe what you're making up is almost as good as having pureed apple & carrot, which would be as good as 2 servings/day.
