I would like to take one over to friends tomorrow when we go for dinner and it's so long since I made one that I can't remember a good recipe. I am sure I made it with oats in the topping.

Do you think apple and blueberry would go or is it an odd combination?

I use equal quantities of flour, sugar, oats and marg. half brown sugar, half caster.
Apple and blueberry sounds yum. Though I prefer various combos of rhubarb/plum/blackberry/blueberry/banana/peach.

I normally do 100g flour, 50g butter and 25g sugar or increase quantities as needed but half butter to flour then half sugar again iyswim. Sometimes I replace some of the flour with oats. Apple and blueberry sounds nice although I agree apple might be better with blackberry or blueberry with peach.

Thank you. Will do an apple and blackberry one. Equal quantities sounds a good easy method.

You could Replace some of the flour with ground almonds, a chefs tip.

The incredible spice men cooked their crumble on a flat tray in the oven first. It made it crunchier. They still cooked it in top of the fruit filling. It just got two goes.
