Blackcurrant jelly/jam, blackcurrant sorbet. Use a jelly bag and then you won't have to top and tail them cos it's a really boring job! It will take forever.

Freeze them and you will find that the brown bit and the stalk can be broken or rubbed off easily.

Blackcurrants how many ways do I love thee? Grin

We are massive fans here. Grow bushes of the things, gat year have frozen loads. They are great for freezing as you can sling a few in an apple pie or crumble in the winter for some summer zing.

I also made jam, it's great so much more alive than shop bought. I plan on curing a side of salmon with some at Christmas, but our top number 1 all time fave is blackcurrant pie. Mmmmmmmmmm

my all time favourite fruit!
just a few will make a lovely homemade ribena/compote boiled up with some sugar and water and left to cool....

They're definitely a fruit where a little goes a long way. I get about 5kg a year off my bush. I have some blackcurrant vodka in the cupboard (no need to top and tail for this, unless oyu want to eat the boozy currants), waiting for Christmas and blackcurrants in the freezer. I've made jam, but not so much this year, as we still have lots of last year's left. And we've been eatign regular blackcurrant and apple crumble.

i just remembered what my polish ex-mil did - strong alcohol (possibly not available here but good vodka might do it), sugar and the blackcurrants left in a jar in a dark cupboard for some weeks.....lovely!
