Curried parsnip. You need I large parsnip, cheap curry powder, an onion, a little bit of oil or butter, skimmed milk and a blender.
Chop onion and fry till nearly translucent. Add chopped parsnip. Then add 1 tsp curry powder, more of you like it strong. Add some of the skimmed milk and cook untold parsnip cooked. Blend. Return to saucepan. Then add skimmed milk until it is the consistency you want or will feed the number of people you need. Bring to boil. When serving if you want to look.posh, swirl some creme fresh or natural yoghout in it.
Mediterranean fish soup. Lightly fry some onions and garlic. Add a tin of tomatoes, celery if you don't mind it, black olives and herbs, thyme or basil fish, I normally put in white fish and prawns, the latter towards the end.add some water to thin it, bring to boil until fish cooked add prawns and serve.
Lentil soup.
Fry onion and garlic. Add packet of red lentils, beg stock cube, tin of tomatoes, water or skimmed milk. Simmer till lentils mushy. Remove scum and press down tomatoes until indistinguishable. Again add liquid till consistency you like. By tradition, use water and then something acidic eg vinegar to cut down blandness, to taste.
