Please help with my stick blender questions...

so not sure where to put this but thought cooks might know!!

I think a stick blender might be useful, does it do soups and smoothies?

If so any recommendations or ones to avoid?

And a really dumb question....what kind of container do I need to use to blend in?
Thanks

Very handy.

Any brand.

Any container, but highish on the sides otherwise you'll replaster your kitchen.

Yes, it does soups. I blend it in the pan, although it is a deep one. A cheap one is fine, my fancy Breville one burned out after only a couple of uses, but the cheapy is still going strong years later.

Yes, brilliant for soup. Never tried smoothies with mine.
V cheap Argos £5 lasted for more than 10 Years; its much pricier replacement lasted less than 2; its cheaoy replacement us going great a year later.
I normally just blend soup in the pan it is made in.

Don't get the Sainsbury ones as they are crap (splatter everywhere). Any other own brand ones have been fine.

I use them for soups, smoothies, batter, making cakes, sauces and loads of stuff. They won't puree stuff completely but will get it quite smooth.

I just got a new one from wilkinsons, was under £17 and included a whisk, blender and a small chopping pot thing. Am very pleased with it.

Tbh I don't really use my admittedly cheap food processor, preferring the hand blender. One bit of advice is don't put in dishwasher even if says dishwasher safe as they don't seem to last as long then.
