What do you serve with falafel?

I'm attempting the slow cooker falafel recipe today but don't know what to serve with them. Could you tell me what you serve, ideally toddler- and lunchbox-friendly?

Thanks :)

I always serve with flat bread, humous, roasted veg (peppers/ mushrooms/courgettes), halloumi cheese and salad. Topped with garlic mayo or chilli sauce. Prob not toddler friendly though?

When I give to my DD (8 months) I serve with cous cous and some roasted veg.

For lunchbox could you crush into half a pitta with some mayo and lettuce?

We sometimes have them for lunch - cut up whilst still warm and put in a pitta bread with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, humous, mayo/garlic mayo etc

A toddler would probably enjoy dipping falafel, cucumber and carrot sticks, strips of pitta bread into a pot of humous.

Pittas, salad, hummus, greek yoghurt mixed with squeezed coriander/chilli/garlic.

Flat bread, salad, yogurt and mint dressing or mango chutney.

My falafels are always dry as sticks

Thanks

Actually I think he would love that, he loves picky plates. A flatbread, falafel, red pepper strips and humus to dip would be perfect!

Slow cooked falafel sound interesting - we love falafels. Where is the recipe from?

And we have them in pitas with salad, nat yoghurt and maybe houmous if we have any left.

Loooove falafals and so do our 2 older DSs. We have them with pitta / flatbreads, humous, tzatziki, peppers, grated carrot and salad. DS1 takes them to school in a whole meal pitta. Grin

Liskey · 05/09/2013 12:13

Thanks for that recipe. I'll be trying that soon.

NotGoodNotBad · 05/09/2013 12:21

Isn't falafel with hummus a bit weird too much of a good thing though? I mean, it's chickpeas with chickpeas.

PavlovtheCat · 05/09/2013 12:22

Falafel, Greek yoghurt, salad (cucumber, tomatoes in particular) pitta, olives, couscous, sometimes I make a tahini sauce to pour over.

bigkidsdidit · 05/09/2013 12:33

Ooh grated carrot, DS1 loves that, I'd forgotten :)

Too many chickpeas?! Never Grin

Though a friend of DH is convinced it's always chickpeas on the menu here....

NationMcKinley · 06/09/2013 13:19

Mmmmmm. Chickpeas Grin

thereistheball · 06/09/2013 14:51

I have mine in pita bread or lebanese flatbread spread with humous and stuffed with: salad (rocket or spinach are nicest), halved cherry tomatoes, slivers of red onion, crumbled feta cheese and lots of chilli sauce or harissa. Also delicious with leftover roast lamb instead of the falafel, or just with the spreads and stuffings (in which case it's nice to put some whole chick peas in for texture).
