Fruit Shoots, cheese strings, those cartons of 'meat'(sorry, industrial slurry) and cheese, weird yoghurts that don't need to be refrigerated and have a 'best before' date of 2018.
The healthiest thing was probably a plastic bread sandwich with some sort of processed chicken slice in it.

When I see their little shining faces and strong bodies, exuding energy ,and then see what they are fuelling themselves with,I want to take said cheese strings and garotte their parents.

nulnulcat · 20/06/2006 15:50

can you get cook in sauce curry? dp would kill me hes a qualified chef and im still not forgiven for the packet pepper sauce from 2 years ago!

nulnulcat · 20/06/2006 15:51

cold pizza is a better breakfast

oliveoil · 20/06/2006 15:51

dd1 is a pain in the arse atm, v fussy etc

I have bored people several times on here with my numerous threads.

But if she doesn't eat her cereal or toast, then she GOES hungry. END OF.

Stop giving in to her for an easy life, seriously.

When mine whine and start to strop I start to sing VERY LOUDLY over the top of them so you can't hear them.

nulnulcat · 20/06/2006 15:57

she eats her 5 a day more than actually and gets all her nutritional requirements but not necessarily in a conventional order who decided cereal or toast was breakfast! food is food and she is eating so im happy i was too stressed and getting wound up when she did her hunger strike thing and its not worth worrying about i decided i will reason with her when she is older and can understand that pudding should be for afters not befores!

harpsichordcarrier · 20/06/2006 16:02

yes I have nevr understood why jaffa cake in the afternoon with a cup of tea = nice little treat
jaffa cake for breakfast = evil
am happy to have this explained to me Smile

tamum · 20/06/2006 16:03

I find myself in the fortunate position of never having to post on threads any more, as harpischordcarrier has always said exactly what I wanted to. Hurrah :)

nailpolish · 20/06/2006 16:05

lol @tamum

nailpolish · 20/06/2006 16:07

what I can never understand is when people say "oh i can stop little jonny eating crap all day" when they are not even school age

idont like my dd's eating crisps and sweets all day, therefore i dont have it in the house, i dnt buy it at the shops

Bozza · 20/06/2006 16:12

nulnulcat Shock do you really feed your DD all that? I thought it was a wind up at first! Also sounds like she has a very impressive appetite.

Caligula · 20/06/2006 17:45

Someone earlier said food should be seen as fuel, not a pleasure. I disagree totally. Food is a pleasure every day, there's nothing unhealthy about appreciating the pleasure of it. Seeing it purely as fuel is like seeing sex as purely for babymaking.

moondog · 20/06/2006 17:47

Yes
God I would rather die than see food as nowt but fuel.It constitutes an enormous part of what makes life worth living.

VVVQV · 20/06/2006 17:59

Hoorah for Harpsi Smile

And LOL about triangles too. Have this conversation with DD every time.

WRT to everything else. All this is fantastic ie balance, positive attitude, priorities etc, however, if you have a child like my DS, then all that goes at the window and you do what you can to make them eat and work at adjusting their diet gradually and making it right later.

I feel obliged to say that, because it seems to be overlooked on this thread, and with the best intentions and will in the world, a fussy eater is a fussy eater - and i dont want an "inexperienced" parent to come along and think that all it takes is "balance, attitude etc etcetc" to get their child to eat right.

That said, i cant help but wonder when i go shopping and see trolleys full of crisps, fruit shoots, sweets, chocolates etc Wink

VVVQV · 20/06/2006 18:01

Shock Caligula!

Sex is just for babymaking! Go wash your mouth out tsk tsk Wink

ilovecaboose · 20/06/2006 18:34

I love food and I love cooking. We tend to eat non processed food as it is cheaper to buy a joint of meat and then lots of veges to feed us for a week than processed stuff cos we are a low income family. Few spices and fresh herbs (grown in garden) etc and i can make a lot more meals for the same price as one processed meal and they taste better too. Same for ds (mostly), but he has eating problems (20months) and this means I have had to relax an inch or so (ok he has jars of organic baby food and some organix baby snacks - no sugar, or nasty bits - and yes I feel like a bad bad mother). But on the other hand I think sometimes that I used to get worried about him eating healthy that this may have in part have contributed to these problems.

handlemecarefully · 20/06/2006 18:37

Hunkermunker - I didn't mean you either. I was just Franny baiting; but she is too mature and dignified to respond.

And back to the thread in general, HC's post of 11.22 was spot on.

Dior · 20/06/2006 18:58

Personally, I can't see the excitement wityh party rings...I think they are from Dullsville. Whoever it was that said they can't get them anymore, I'll send you a packet if you like. They do tubs of them in my Tesco!

I'm afraid that ds sometimes has white bread Shock. He moans about brown bread and sometimes I give in. Having said that, he had home-made shepherd's pie and two veg for supper. The s. pie also had veg. hidden in it, so he does alright, white bread not withstanding...

tigermoth · 20/06/2006 19:33

I thnk nulnuls first post on here was one of the most honest messages I have seen on mumsnet.
And I agree with harpsi - why are jaffa cakes and tea in the afternoon acceptable but jaffa cakes for breakfast not acceptable. Taking one meal out of context with the general, weekly diet is just plain silly IMHO.

Janh, thanks for the freezing fruibs tip :)

Dior · 20/06/2006 19:35

Oh yes, I meant to say thanks too JanH. I will try that, not that he'll eat them! He seems to eat most of his lunch after school...in fact, I don't know why I don't just take his lunch with me when I pick him yp Grin

Cod · 20/06/2006 19:38

pmsl at this
"Make a wholemeal pasta salad with avocado and tuna or chicken and cherry tomatoes. Use low-fat mayonnaise and mix some finely chopped baby spinach leaves in for colour and iron. "

and my kid wil not eat it

WelshBoris · 20/06/2006 19:39

watch them throw it back up and demand supernoodles

VVVQV · 20/06/2006 19:41

ahem - pot noodles, WB. With a fruit shoot for good measure.

ilovecaboose · 20/06/2006 19:45

Surely if you want true evil it should be a panda pop? Woolies usually have them on special offer Grin
