Hi

My DD 14.5 months, loves eating the coal off our fireplace, all the blocks have chucks out of them where she loves to eat it.
She has a very healthy diet, no sugar as such, eats plenty of fruit and veg a day, so not sure what else to do, suggestions grateful please

The HV is wrong to say 'most' people experience pica. If she's lacking iron, she won't get it from fruit and veg. How is her consumption of meat, eggs, fish etc?

Oh please just move the coal.

She is a baby. It's not like a cooker which you need to have in the house. You can just get rid of the coal.

I do not understand why you are so adamant about leaving it there, it could do her some damage. You wouldn't leave a pile of old batteries there or glass things so that she learns not to touch them.

Please just get rid of it. It's not like she will think she rules the world if you do. Plenty of time to learn some common sense.

Move the coal or fix the fireguard to the wall. Incredibly effective at getting them to leave it alone.
