Baking my first cherry bakewell cake

I LOVE cherry bakewell. I decided that I wanted to try and make my own cake. I'm not great at baking even though I enjoy it so now my first cake is in the oven. I'm crossing all fingers and toes that it turns of well

I always make my own, cant beat homemade so much nicer than shop bought, but i have to take it to work for fear of eating the lot.

Just tried a little and it was yum! Much better then I expected, I just need to jam and ice it now. I made a little too much mix so put it in cake cases and sampled them but I'm pleased feel quite proud of myself. It's not often anything I make turns out well
