Can I eat Homebase Flowers?

LO christening next week and I'd like to put the edible flower of her name on cupcakes. Found them for sale crystalised for a fair old whack. Then had a quick look on Homebase and they're half price - i.e cheap as chips. Surely the effect will be just as good with flowers cut that morning or will they wilt before the service is over and lunch is served? Also would I be poisoning my guests with pesticides?

I imagine they'll be covered in a few pesticides and what not. You could cut and wash them the day before leaving on a cm or two of stem and store in the fridge overnight, they should keep in the cold and dark and being cool will help them last longer on the day too. Just cut the rest of the stem off and wash again before you use them.
Oh and do make 100% sure they're edible.
