I grew up in the 70s/80s

Staple food in our house

Roast dinners
Lasagne
Minestra (pasta and vegetables cooked in home-made stock)
Pasta (all sorts with home-made sauces and lots of parmesan)
Polenta
Risotto
Home-made pies
Meat simply cooked (grilled or fried with herbs and olive oil) with steamed vegetables (dressed in olive oil etc) or salads (raddichio was a favourite)
Meat stews and casseroles
Home-made pizza

We also had loads of cakes and bisuits though and not home-made apart from the odd apple pie- my mother is a brilliant cook but hates baking!

We were all fat though as the quantities cooked were enormous !! Good quality just too much of it

oh forgot - she did always bake a cake for Sunday. We also ate a lot of yoghurt and fruit I seem to remember.

Oh you were lucky - I didn't even know lasagne existed until I was in 6th form - so '84-'85 - went out with friends in London and discovered lasagne, garlic bread and tiramisu all on the same night !

It was a pivotal moment !
