Hi ...DD is now 5 months, and I have been introducing solids for a month now ... I am vaguely following GF 's method (as I have no clue as to how to do it ... any other suggestions ??? ) . However, she does does not really take ALL her recommended daily amnt of formula ...

DO you think that I should wait till that intake increases or to continue the weaning anyway ?

Did you only start to wean when they showed signs that they needed more food ?

DD's weight dropped from 90th to 50th percentile after I stopped BF at 4 months ...

I weaned DD at 14 or 15 weeks (this was last summer before the new 'rules). This was also agreed on with the HV. DD was clearly interested in more than her formula. She was downing several full bottles of hungry baby milk. She was trying to take food out of our hands to taste herself.

6 months with DD and 5 months with DS.

25 weeks. It was supposed to be 26 but he grabbed a chip. He only ate food he grabbed himself (and then was lovingly hand fed it by Granny) until 7 months when I started doing the mush thing.

13 weeks for ds1
then the guidelines changed so split difference and 20 weeks for ds2 - so much easier the longer you leave it.
Purees only and a bit of oats, no baby sludg rice this time and still BF

I'm not a big GF fan but she does talk about how dropping centiles can be an indication that a baby isn't ready for solids - ie the sludge isn't high in calories so doesn't make a big difference.
I fed dd2 solely on breastmilk for 6 mths, and she now has 3 meals a day plus a bit of formula plus ebm at nursery and then milk from me when she wakes up/at bedtime.

dd1 at 13weeks (when guidelines were 16wks) and dd2 at 10weeks, she's nearly 7mths now. Only use my own veg and fruit mush. Plus a bit of baby rice to thicken, and organic banana porrige-(No sugar). But both babes were born late, and dribbled early. HV was ok with it.

16 weeks. He's now 22 weeks and loving it. Also followed GF roughly.

4 months for my dd. But it took ages and I only gave her small amounts of veg, rice etc. so I don't think it made much difference to her diet, just got her used to the idea.
