Ooh coincidence, we are having these tonight!

Get a load of tortilla chips. I prefer just the lightly salted ones but you could go full-on chilli heat wave.
Put them in an oven dish and add whatever other bits you like. I do chopped tomatoes (fresh not tinned!) sliced jalapeños, then stir a bit to distribute. Grate a nice lot of cheese on top. Whack in oven till all hot and sizzly an cheese melted (keep an eye, doesn't take long).

Serve with dips. Yum!

And bear in mind you can eat double what you think you can :)

Twooter · 05/08/2013 07:57

Or just tortilla chips, salsa, and grated cheese, then microwave for 20s or so.

PrincessKitKat · 05/08/2013 08:04

I do a layer of chips on a plate, dob on jarred salsa and grated cheese - whack under the grill til melty. Repeat with a second layer, then dollop on the sour cream and jalapeños.

I want nachos for breakfast now.

so was what im thinking is wrong.

I was going to put tortilla chips in oven dish, grate on lots of cheese and add dollops of salsa. melt in the oven. take out and dollop on Sour cream and guacamole. ??

I think this thread proves that as long as you have chips, heat, and some stuff to lob on them, you can make nachos :)

Microwave though? They don't go soggy?

snowlie · 05/08/2013 09:34

I'd do them in the microwave too and they don't go soggy. Add soured cream, guacamole and jalapeños after zapping.

thornrose · 05/08/2013 09:37

I like buying the soft tortillas and cutting them into wedges and deep frying, they puff up and taste better than packet tortilla chips.

CMOTDibbler · 05/08/2013 09:39

I do mine in the microwave - layer of refried beans, chips, salsa, cooked shredded chicken, avocado, cheese and repeat. Zap till melted.
Yum

Madratlady · 05/08/2013 09:40

Tortilla chips, salsa, cheese, grill.
With loads of soured cream on top.
Yummy.

Make me some while you're at it? Grin

snowlie · 05/08/2013 09:40

It's tricky to find flour tortillas that don't contain a hideous mass of crap ingredients though, unless you make your own.

Pascha · 05/08/2013 09:47

I do mine with chilli, cheese and sour cream for a proper meal. Tortilla chips on the bottom, some cheese on top, then the chilli, then more cheese and tortilla chips dotted around the outside. Humungous dollop of sour cream. Bottle of beer. Yum.

thornrose · 05/08/2013 09:48

This is making me hungry.

Madratlady · 05/08/2013 13:33

I've become very suggestible about food while pregnant. If someone mentions something I like then I always really, really want it. Now I want nachos!
