A defrosting and cooking question

catchafox · 29/07/2013 10:29

I defrosted two chicken breasts (in fridge) Saturday morning for a bbq Sunday. We didn't use them, and I forgot to cook them up last night.

Can I cook them today or should I have cooked them sooner?

TIA

Smell them, they will stink if they are off.

Is that as much of a test that I need to do?

So long as they were bought frozen, or frozen before their best before date they will be fine.

(I'm a bad person, who freezes stuff absolutely in it's sell by dates, so once in a blue moon I have chucked things that smell iffy on cooking).

With chicken and most meat, you will know if its ok as soon as you open the packet. Chicken will also look a bit off as well.

once cooked you can refreeze and then reheat only once.

It was definitely in its sell by date but it was bought fresh, then frozen. Will check smell. Ta
