Does terrine have to be wrapped in bacon?

can I make a pork terrine putting it straight into the cling film lined tin, or do I have to line the tin with bacon first?

I don't see why it has to have bacon. I take it that it's cooked already.

Will try without bacon - it's a fiddle and DH forgot to get some...
