I've been on a hunt for curry leaves in all our local supermarkets and I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know a good Indian supermarket I can get them from?

TIA

I bought mine in a big Tesco. Just Schwarz, nothing fancy.

I am looking for Mango Powder, and must live near you, so will be interested in any useful replies, though!

Dried ones work for you?

toomanyeasterbunnies · 19/07/2013 13:28

Thanks Trills - I'd prefer fresh. I know with Lime leaves that the fresh ones are so much better so assume it's the same with curry leaves. It's really annoying as a big Tesco used to stock fresh but don't any more.

You can get frozen lime leaves at Waitrose. Maybe they do frozen curry leaves?

Not sure how convenient it is for you but the usual Asian areas (Southall, Hounslow, Hayes, Ilford, Barking, Wembley...) have a number of small and big Asian grocery stores. QualityFoods, Sira Cash and Carry, V.B.Sons to name a few. Or order online here (I have never used this website but friends have recommended it). I am in Woking and aside from shops in the Asian area, the local farmers market also sell them. HTH

I was going to suggest southall also.

Found somewhere fairly local. Just up the road from West Croydon on London Road - not far from Mayday hospital are a few Asian shops. The one I nipped in had everything I needed including the Mango Powder you mentioned Cointreau.

Ready for an Indian feast tonight!!

Garden centres sell curry plants.

CointreauVersial · 21/07/2013 01:38

Thanks, OP. I'll make a detour next time I'm in the area. Hope your curry was nice!

For future reference you could try amaranth market in earlsfield

Tooting! There are lots of Indian shops here. I found mango powder and you get fresh curry leaves. The Indian supermarkets are amazing here. There is one between tooting bec and tooting broadway.

thecatfromjapan · 21/07/2013 22:24

I was going to suggest Tooting too. Especially Deepak stores (which have temporarily - I hope - relocated to next to the Leisure Centre).

thecatfromjapan · 21/07/2013 22:26

Deepak sell an impossibly-hard-to-get-hold of Burmese speciality curry paste. Just in case you should ever want such a thing. Smile

justabigdisco · 21/07/2013 22:36

Ocado sell them.
