I am trying to cook bubble and squeak (it is in a story about My Naughty Little Sister and ds keeps asking for it).

I had cold new pots and some chinese leaf so i thought I would fry them all up. However am not very good at this frying malarkey and potato crust is all stuck to bottom of pan. Meanwhile potatoes are still boiled looking, not nice and sauted.

If I chuck it all in the oven with a tin of beans and some grated cheese will it make something edible???

This is going to be like some rank student meal isn't it?

Oh well dp will probably love it.

And ds, actually.

I have the problem with the tasty brown bit sticking as well..is it the pan not hot enough and trying to turn it before it's crusted properly

shouldn't it really be mashed potatoes?

I expect it will be edible anyway Smile

Yes you are right about the mashed potatoes Blush

I thought sauteed pots with chinese leaf sounded quite nice and I could tell ds it was bubble and squeak.

I kept veering from thinking the pan was too hot, to the pan was too cold, so the gas was going up and down like a clown's trousers

The beans and cheese bit sounds yummy - just say it's aspecial sort of bubble and squeak!

Yes tinned beans and particularly anything with cheese on top is viewed as a great treat by the boys in this household.

Oh ok I will like it too, I just feel ashamed of this scrotey student food I am about to produce.

Where's moondog to come along and say "ah, just a sprinkling of tofu and some paprika and you can make Pommes de Lentille Weaveres," or something.

Typical health freak - you didn't use enough oil for the frying, did you? You need oil-spill quantities!

Pah - leave the greasy fry-ups to the experts Grin

You know it was actually quite nice. The chinese leaf was quite a good texture and the flavours were nice and strong.

Dp asked if we could have it again which says something about my usual cooking Blush
