should a duck smell funky?

We just put a duck in the oven and the smell just about made me boak. Is it normally a strong smelling bird? Not rotten, just strong...

No, only a chicken can be 'funky'

But no - I have cooked ducks before and they didn't smell any worse than a chicken or joint of meat.

Was it from a supermarket? Or has someone given it to you from a shoot?
