Flapjacks - arh!

OK, tried loads of flapjack recipes and can't get what I want. A chewy texture! They always end up fluffy.

I'm using whole oats (jumbo oats) - do you think this is the problem??

do you use condensed milk in them - no going back after using it..

I find the Co-Op's own brand of oats makes a nice flapjack!

Yes, I've tried the condensed milk version. It's the best recipe I've tried but the flapjack still isn't chewy like when you buy them from the baker's .
