Sweet, milky, macaroni pudding

My Dad use to make a lovely macaroni pudding in a shallow casserole dish and I really want to make it for the DC.

It had a brownish skin on top but the liquid part wasn't very thick, lots of the receipes i've found make a custard type pudding.

Does anyone have one that they make? I tried asking my dad but he does it all by sight!

My Dad made a macaroni pudding once that was going to be a rice pudding when he started, but we'd run out of rice, so he improvised. Would that sort of thing be similar to yours? (again, no recipe. My dad just makes things up as he goes in the kitchen. Savoury bread & butter pudding, with ham & cheese sandwiches, for example)

I'd just make it like a rice pudding but use macaroni instead of rice (i.e. with lots of milk/cream, sugar and 2 hours in the oven). I used to like the Ambrosia macaroni in a tin too, but last time I tried it, it was horrid! May try making this myself.
