"Asian" themed hamper

Each class at school has to provide items for a themed hamper to raffle at our summer fair. Our class has got "Asia" and I need to draw up a list of suggested goodies to donate but I can't think of anything apart from really boring stuff like noodles and spices.

Can anyone inspire me with some good ideas? Please! It doesn't all have to be food, it could include things llke woks or balti pans for instance.

I'd go to an Asian supermarket and find something nice from there - Black rice (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_rice), different sauces and condiments, sweets and so on. Or nice chopsticks, a sushi starter kit, cookbooks.

Spices
Indian sweets (you need to find a sweet centre) where you will also find paneer rolls and samosas.

Sushi rice and a bamboo mat. You could put a selection of rices in small jars.

Coconut milk (tinned) and butter.

If you have an Indian / Chinese/ Asian supermarket you can get things like weird looking fruit, the pancakes for crispy dut.

Indian shops near me do those round spice dishes that have 5 or 6 small dishes inside them.

Chapati pan.

Chopsticks.

Wasabi.

Saki with saki cups.

Bento box.

Soy sauce (light and dark).

Sweet chilli dipping sauce.

Hosin sauce.

Plumb sauce.

For a sushi pack, you'd want to include some nori sheets and some sushi seasoning (you can buy his ready made) alongside the rice and bamboo mat. Pickled ginger would also be useful.

Indeed, head down to the oriental supermarket and buy some pickled vegetables (daikon, cucumber, radish, etc).

If you are looking for some equipment to put in, you can buy woks very cheaply in most oriental supermarkets too (Like £5 cheap). You can get bamboo steamers very cheaply too.

Or chuck in some chop sticks, and maybe some children's chopsticks (you can get various different types of 'training chopsticks', some of which are really cute).

Brilliant ideas! We live in an area of SW London with a Korean community so I may check out some Korean stuff too. Thank you.
