What can you use as a substitute on a recipe? Someone suggested golden syrup but aren't they very different?

You can acutally buy corn syrup from waitrose but this cake forum (and they do some amazing cakes!) does suggest golden syrup

I was reading about this - corn syrup substitute is golden syrup, dark corn syrup is treacle

Honey is almost identical in the sucrose/fructose/whatever makeup so you should be able to substitute - but obviously tastes different.

What about brown rice syrup?

Honey
